Frequently Asked Questions

How do organizations in Ottawa get involved?

Organizations must be nominated by a member of 100 Men Who Care Ottawa to be considered. We invite organizations to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to keep connected and informed of our upcoming events. Many of our members are also looking for a charitable cause to nominate. We invite featured organizations to educate our membership about their causes through our social media platforms.

What are the criteria for consideration of a charitable organization?

The charitable organization must be a registered not-for-profit charity able to provide tax receipts for donations.

The charitable organization must have been operating within the community of Ottawa for at least 12 months.

The charitable organization must have local impact within the City of Ottawa.

The charitable organization must not have participated in a 100 Men Who Care event within the past year.

How are charitable organizations chosen?

Three charitable organizations are featured at each quarterly event. Selected organizations are nominated by our members in attendance at our previous event. Ballots are collected at each meeting, placed in a box and three are randomly selected, vetted, and confirmed by email to members. They will be asked to provide a 5-minute presentation on their work in the Ottawa region at the next meeting. Nominations must meet the criteria for consideration before being confirmed as one of the next three charities.

I am part of a charity that was nominated to participate in an event. How should we prepare?

Please watch the video below. It will provide all of the information that you need. If on mobile, click here.

What if I cannot attend the meetings in person?

If you know of a friend who will be attending the meeting, simply send your cheque along with them so they can deposit it. Please make the cheque out to one of the three featured charitable organizations for that given meeting. Information about the charities can be found under the "next meeting" tab on the webpage, or on the Facebook page and twitter account. If you would like a tax receipt, please clearly indicate your name and full mailing address on an envelope with the cheque inside of it. Your chosen charitable organization will send the receipt directly to you.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, as only registered not-for-profit and charitable organizations will be sponsored by the group. Cheques are written directly to the charitable organization chosen and not to 100 Men Who Care Ottawa. Tax reciepts will be issued directly by the charitable organization for donations over $25.00.

How long do the meetings last?

Meetings are intended to be very short and no longer than 60 minutes. However, the venue and bar will be open one hour prior for socializing and for the rest of the evening.

Do any of my donated funds go to administration costs?

Absolutely not. 100 Men Who Care Ottawa is organized and operated entirely by volunteers. 100% of the money raised at our meetings goes directly to the selected organizations.

What do you do with my personal information?

100 Men Who Care Ottawa collects your name and email strictly for the purpose of contacting you for event invitations and announcing featured charitable organizations ahead of the meetings. We will not sell, give, or otherwise share your personal information without your express consent, unless required by law. We do like to recognize our members via social media and other avenues. If a member would like to remain anonymous, just let us know!

Is there a 100 Women Who Care?
